Access to Justice Trial Academy Scholarship

Providing access to premier trial training for lawyers from small firms, public service, and underrepresented communities.

Scholarship Qualifications

The Foundation of the IADC is dedicated to supporting the rule of law and access to justice around the world. Part of that effort is ensuring lawyers are well trained on how to represent their clients in the courtroom.

The Access to Justice Scholarship includes the registration fee ($4,750) and a travel stipend ($1,200) for the IADC’s 2026 Trial Academy. Qualified candidates include those who work for a small firm (30 or fewer attorneys), solo practice, person of color, member of an underrepresented group, or who work for a government or non-profit entity.

If you know of a candidate, please encourage them to apply. Applications are due by May 6, 2026.

IADC Trial Academy Details

The IADC Trial Academy is one of the oldest and most respected programs for developing defense trial advocacy skills. Perfect for those looking to learn and practice the fundamentals and for those seeking to refine their techniques and tactics and take their trial skills to the next level, students will learn by doing.

This week-long intensive workshop blends faculty instruction and demonstration with individual student participation in the setting of a mock trial.

The IADC’s 2026 Trial Academy will be held August 1 to 7 at the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law in Columbia, South Carolina.
